Why Can't Jake Gyllenhaal Keep A Woman?

Director Antoine Fuqua commented that the intense training Jake Gyllenhaal undertook for his latest role in boxing drama Southpaw, which left little time for a personal life, may have contributed the breakdown of his relationship with 25-year-old American model Alyssa Miller

Let’s be honest now, an actor like Jake Gyllenhaal, whose majority of movie roles are Oscar bait, was never going to take someone seriously who has @LuvAlyssaMiller as their Twitter/Instagram handle…model or not.

Think about it. Most of Gyllenhaal’s long term relationships have been with credible actresses. Sure Kirsten Dunst and Reese Witherspoon have starred in movies of the light and fluffy variety, but they have also been in serious dramas and were more age-appropriate.

Even a powerhouse like Taylor Swift, who has an estimated net worth of $200 million, isn’t credible enough for Jakey: you can tell the dude was not only embarrassed about the age difference, but a lot of Tay-Swift’s songs, catchy as they are, mainly appeal the teen pop generation.

Of course, they have also been rumours that Gyllenhaal bats for the other team, most likely as a result of starring in gay romance drama Brokeback Mountain.

Personally, I think that when you’re a wealthy, handsome actor with no shortage of women flocking to you, one can afford to be picky or enjoy the bachelor life. I can’t help but think that Reese Witherspoon really did a number on him, as he hasn’t been in a long term relationship since.

Another candidate for The Millionaire Matchmaker, me thinks. Although with movies like Donnie Darko, Brokeback Mountain, End of Watch, Prisoners, Nightcrawler etc etc, perhaps reality TV isn’t to Jake Gyllenhaal’s taste.
